Summary[edit]

Description
English: Exposed by a low tide The chalk outcrop is only visible at low water. It is composed of calcium carbonate from the remains of microscopic marine organisms that once lived in a warm shallow sea which covered this area between 62 and 132 million years ago. Its upper few centimetres are composed of fragments of rocks. On the low foreshore, exposed flint nodules can also be observed. A pebble spit, resting on chalk, can be seen in mid-distance, reaching far out into the sea.

The exceptionally low tide has also exposed the steel contraption seen in the foreground - could it have come from a ship? See > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/794745 for a view of the large pot-shaped object located a few metres further seawards.
