Summary[edit]
DescriptionEx-Melbourne tram 482 loaded onto truck trailer in Seattle for its move to St Louis, June 2016.jpg | Former Melbourne tram 482, a 1928 W2-class car, loaded onto a truck trailer next to Safeco Field in Seattle, for its move to St. Louis, Missouri. It was one of several Melbourne streetcar acquired by Seattle in the 1980s for use on the Waterfront Streetcar line, which opened in 1982 (with three cars initially, two others being restored and added to the operational fleet in 1990 or later). The line ceased operation in 2005, and plans to reopen it did not come to fruition. In 2016, three of the five streetcars were sold to the Loop Trolley Transportation Development District in St. Louis, for eventual use on a heritage streetcar line under construction there, and they left Seattle in early June 2016. |
