Summary[edit]

Description
English: After our neighbor Canada, our State was the first in the United States to receive the bearer of “Eternal Flame” to honor the memory of those who were sacrificed in Ukraine during the Famine of 1932-33. Another goal was to get the world to recognize our tragedy, instigated by means of genocide against the Ukrainian nation. Organizers of the day’s event were the Ukrainian American Club of Washington and the Ukrainian Studies Endowment Fund at the University of Washington.
Українська: Після сусідньої Канади наш штат був першим, хто у Сполучених Штатах прийняв естафету «Незгасима свічка» на вшанування пам’яті жертв голодомору в Україні у 1932-1933 роках, на визнання світом нашої трагедії геноцидом проти українського народу. Організатори заходу – Український Американський клуб штату Вашингтон та Фонд заснування кафедри українознавства при університеті UW.
