Description
English: State of the interior of the fort of Kil-Bouroun after the capture, 19 October 1855 Taken from a lithographic print series (Our memories of Kil-Bouroun during the winter spent in the Dnieper liman 1855-1856.) commemorating the Battle of Kinburn (Kil-Bouroun) on the south bank of the Dnieper River near the Crimea. On 17 October 1855, during the Crimean War, the French and British navies attacked the Russian outpost there with a fleet of ironclad ships, destroying the fortifications within hours and suffering only light damage.
