English: Coat of arms of Nicolás de Ovando, governor of Hispaniola.
Español: Escudo de armas de Nicolás de Ovando, gobernador de la Española: El apellido Ovando, situado en el primer cuartel del blasón, es, en campo de plata, una cruz floronada de gules, angulada de cuatro veneras de lo mismo. En el segundo cuartel está situado el apellido Flores: De azur, cinco flores de lis puestas en aspa con bordura de gules, cargada con ocho aspas de oro. En el tercer cuartel el apellido Mogollón. En campo de oro, dos osos pasantes de sable, bordura de gules, cargada con ocho aspas de oro. Por último, Gutiérrez: En campo de oro, un castillo de piedra cargado con cinco hojas de higuera, dos en el homenaje central y tres en el cuerpo del castillo. Las hojas de higuera son de sinoples. Museo Nicolás de Ovando. Acola el escudo una cruz de Alcántara, como en este ejemplar. |
