Description
Deutsch: Kupferstich (wohl 18. Jh.): Zwei Erzbischöfe von Trier und Köln. In der Goldenen Bulle von 1356 wurde die Verteilung der Erzämter verbindlich geregelt. Dargestellt sind zwei der drei geistlichen Kurfürsten in ihrer Eigenschaft als „Archi-Cancelarii“ (Erzkanzler): Der Trierer Erzbischof war Erzkanzler für Burgund (per Galliam et regnum Arelatense), der Erzbischof von Köln war Erzkanzler für Oberitalien mit der Lombardei im Zentrum. Nicht abgebildet ist der Erzbischof von Mainz, der den Titel des „Archi-Cancellarius“ von Germanien trug. Da bei den beiden hier dargestellten Würdenträgern nur das jeweilige Bistumswappen abgebildet ist, sind sie nur ihrer Funktion als Erzkanzler, nicht jedoch historischen Personen zuzuordnen. Maße: 112 mm x 91 mm.
English: Copperplate print (most likely 18th century) of archbishops of Trier and Cologne in their function of “Archi-Cancellarii” (Archchancellors) of Burgundy (Trier) and Italy (Cologne). The third “Archi-Cancellarius” (not depicted here) was the Archbishop of Mainz (for Germania). Size: 112 mm x 91 mm.
