Summary[edit]

Description
English: Retired quarterback Eric Hipple of the Detroit Lions speaks with a Soldier at the Pentagon Resiliency Health Fair, Sept. 9 2014. In his debut game on Monday Night Football back in 1981, Hipple threw for four touchdowns and ran for two against the Chicago Bears, winning 48-17. Hipple's seemingly magical life after football came crashing down when he lost his son to suicide in 2000 and became suicidal himself. Today, he understands the role depression played and speaks to military and professional groups, schools and law enforcement agencies about mental health awareness.
