| Description |
English: Entrance to the former iron ore mine on Raasay Iron ore was first discovered on the island in 1893 and commercial operations were ready to commence prior to the outbreak of The First World War. During the war, mining operations were undertaken by German prisoners of war. By 1920, the mine was no longer commercially viable and the extraction of iron ore ceased. |
