Summary[edit]

Description April 1, 2016 news bulletin: Mono Lake is now just 13 inches above the ecologically precipitous 6,377-foot elevation at which nesting islands become land-bridged, lake salinity hits new highs, air quality problems worsen, and stream delta habitat conditions degrade. (Caused by a combination of diversion of the water that feeds the lake to Los Angeles and California drought).
