Text Appearing Before Image:
the waters edge is fullof novelty, first by zigzags, and then as the roadreaches a place where the mountain towers some700 feet sheer out of the lake, it is cut, in one longsloping line, deep out of the solid rock : frequentlyjutting far out over the water till a stone rolled overits edge will, after a few moments, drop with asplash into the lake. Sweeping round sharp cornersof rock, passing through several tunnels now andthen, as it were, hanging between heaven andearth, we came in sight of Kiva, dozing in therosy sunset beneath the ruins of the castle ofthe Scaligers upon the side of the precipitousRocchetta.
