The morning wasglorious, not a cloud disfigured the blue sky, andthe sun well above the snow peaks shone brilliantly.Losing no time, I hurriedly splashed in cold waterand dressed with alacrity. At the hotel door Iencountered Sheila descending the stairs. Dorothy,she said, was still slumbering, and I went to Kensroom to knock him up. A muffled voice answeredmy attack on the door, informing me that he wouldbe down in half an hour. Returning to the hall Ifound Sheila ready for a walk before breakfast. It was simply magnificent upon the springy turf,and leaving the village we climbed a hill to get abetter view of the snowy range of mountains thatrose like giants from its very doors. A herd ofshaggy cattle were grazing peacefully upon thesteep slope, their musical bells sounding clear uponthe still air. The atmosphere was exhilarating, andwe felt able to walk for ever.
