美作国英多郡江見庄鯰村鳥坂山城主にして、家伝によれば赤松氏の庶流という。おそらく、美作管家党のひとつであろう。美作国江見荘を名字とした美作の有力国人領主であった。恵美・恵比氏とも。

　美作菅家党の一つ。有元氏の三穂太郎満佐の子資豊が、英田郡江見庄を領して江見氏を名乗ったという。『太平記』にも「美作国には菅家の一族、江見、芳賀、渋谷」とみえている。
