English: New space shuttle orbiter Challenger (OV) 099 unveiled after STS-4 landing at Ellington Air Force Base. A large crowd was on hand to see both the landing and the new orbiter. Dressed in blue flight suits, Astronauts Thomas K. Mattingly, II (right) and Henry W. Hartsfield, Jr., can be seen on the podium at center. Twin NASA Gulfstream aircraft can be seen behind the podium. The new orbiter, atop its 747 carrier aircraft, sits between the two Gulfstreams. |
