Born 16 August 1596 at Dunfermline Palace, Fife, as Princess Elizabeth of Scotland; married 14 February 1613 to Frederick V, Elector Palatine, at the royal chapel at the Palace of Whitehall; died 13 February 1662 at Leicester House, Westminster; for her husband's short reign as King of Bohemia (1619-20) she is often nicknamed the Winter Queen.
