Summary[edit]

Description
English: Ledger stone of two daughters of George Southcott, Gentlemen of Dulcis, in Kilmington. The daughters were named Elizabeth and Joan. The stone lies in the North Aisle of St Giles Church in Kilmington. Before the church was remodelled in the 19th Century the ledger was the floor of St Catherine's Chapel, the Southcott family chapel. The stone is dated 1671 and inscribed, "Here lyeth the bodies of Elizabeth and Joan ye daughters of George Southcot of Douleheisesen Gent 1671". The coat of arms above the inscription is the Southcott family, in a lozenge format, the arms of the daughters buried below the ledger.
