Akvarell på papper, 21 x 18,3 cm. A tergo signerad Martin.

Relaterat till Elias Martins stora målning "Johannes Döparen Predikar i öknen", målad mot slutet av vistelsen i England, 1768-1780, utställd på Royal Accademy 1779 ( Nationalmuseum, Stockholm NM2664) ( R. Hoppe, Elias Martin, 1933, s. 186-87. s. 296, nr 132), illustrerad sid. 184; M. Ahlund, Landskapets röster. Studier I Elias Martins bildvärld, 2011, s. 96-100, illustrerad i färg) Hoppe, anser denna bild vara ett av konstnärens främsta landskap. Målningen kan mycket väl ha setts av den svenske skulptören Johan Tobias Sergel (1760-1814) vid hans besök i Elias Martins ateljé i London under våren 1779, när han återvände till Sverige efter hans 10 år långa vistelse i Italien (Nationalmuseum 625) /1875) (fig. 2).
