Baden State Railway in 1909 obtained from Siemens-Schuckert tenlocomotives for its Wiesental Railway between Basel, Schopfheim, andZell, 34 miles of track. The system is the 15-cycle, 10,000-volt, single-phase. Locomotiveshave 3 sets of 47-inch drivers and 2 sets of leaders. Motors are two525-h. p., 300-volt, mounted upon the locomotive frame and crank-con-nected to jackshafts and to driver side rods. Weight is 71 tons. Eighty250- to 540-ton trains per day are hauled up grades of 0.57 per cent. Other locomotives of about the same capacity, weight, and typewere purchased from Allgemeine Electricitats Gesellshaft. G. two 25-cycle, 6000-volt experimental locomotives. One had three 350-h. p., andone had two 300-h. p., single-phase motors. The first locomotive, inservice at Oranienburg, is shown in Figure 196.
