Description
Se representa el Nacimiento de la Virgen con la madre y dos de las hermanas de la reina doña Margarita de Austria. doña María de Baviera arrodillada sosteniene a la Virgen, tras ella doña Leonora con el lienzo y doña Catalina Renata o doña Maria Cistierna con una canastilla, al fondo, Santa Ana es atendida por unas damas. Obra firmada y fechada “Jnº Pantoja De la + Faciebat / 1603”, fue encargada junto con su pareja, el Nacimiento de Cristo (P1039), por la reina doña Margarita de Austria, cuya piedad y devoción mariana eran sobradamente conocidos, para su oratorio privado en el Palacio de Valladolid.
