El Cortez Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Opened in 1941. This is one of the oldest hotel-casinos in Las Vegas. The myth that Bugsy Siegel started Las Vegas by building a casino in the middle of the nowhere in the desert is false. Bugsy Siegel was part owner of this property before the Flamingo was built in 1946. El Cortez is listed on the City of Las Vegas Historic Property Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
