Scarab with Royal Solar Filiations Title
Description
English: This steatite scarab is inscribed on the underside in sunk relief with the royal "solar filiations" title in a Maat-related phrase. The back in incised with a simple design with short and aligned side-notches and a deeply incised head section. The workmanship of the piece is rough and it is poorly made. The piece functioned as an amulet with royal motto and divine provider individualization, and was originally mounted or threaded. The amulet should provide its owner with the support of the king, as well as of Amun.
Date between 1186 and 736 BC (late New Kingdom-early Third Intermediate)
