Eglantyne Jebb 1876-1928 founder of Save The Children Fund Marlborough Town Council plaque

Summary[edit]

Description
English: "Eglantyne Jebb 1876-1928 founder of Save The Children Fund taught in this building when it was St Peter's School" This is the second plaque to commemorate Eglantyne Jebb at this site. The first plaque, erected in 1996, was replaced after local researcher Sue Round, a writer for Marlborough News, discovered that it had been mistakenly celebrating Eglantyne Jebb's cousin Eglantyne *Mary* Jebb, an error unnoticed for 26 years. A new plaque, omitting the spurious 'Mary', was ceremonially unveiled on Friday 7th June 2019.
