A small amount of the stool is mixed with a solution that may include LPCB stain. The stain helps to improve the contrast and visibility of parasite structures.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Hymenolepis nana, commonly known as the dwarf tapeworm, is a parasitic worm that can infect the human digestive system, particularly the small intestine. It is one of the smallest tapeworms that can infect humans. To diagnose a Hymenolepis nana infection, healthcare professionals may perform a stool examination using various staining techniques, including LPCB (Lactophenol Cotton Blue) staining. LPCB staining is a common method used to visualize and identify various parasites, including tapeworm eggs and cysts, in stool samples.
