Girls should learn to fencewith both hands, so that their arms and legs will be developedsymmetrically. Practice at fencing will bring a lighter step,grace of movement and a more agile form. Punching the Bag.—An excellent form of indoor exer-cise is the use of the punching bag. If one of the men in thehouse owns such an apparatus the girls should certainly takeadvantage of it. By its use every muscle of the body is broughtinto play. The bag should hang about on a level with theshoulders. A light flannel gymnasium suit should be wornduring this exercise. A pair of light gloves will also be needed. Dancing is sometimes the only form of exercise a girl willhave during the winter. It is a useful form of exercise, andprobably more than any other tends to develop grace of move-ment. PART II.A WOMANS LIFE.
