Summary[edit]

Description
English: Eel Hill Taken from the unmarked track west of How Tallon. Although not much of a summit, Eel Hill was apparently an important place in prehistoric times, marked with a large, isolated cup and ring marked stone. It commands extensive views over Teesdale and lies just beyond Osmonds Gill, a small complex of dry valleys with a large spring towards the bottom. There are more than two dozen known marked rocks (all hard to find) on the slopes to the right of the photograph, and a number of prehistoric enclosures on a terrace to the east. Osmonds Gill itself seems to have been used as a site for herding domesticated animals, as well as being a clean water source.
