Edward Payson Tremper Sr. was born Feb. 16, 1860 in Fulton, Illinois. Worked at Osborne, Tremper & Co, which became the Seattle Trust & Title Company. Later went to work at the Washington Title Insurance Company, founded by his brother Henry in 1911. Died May 1944 in Seattle. In 1902 he purchased a large tract of land at Yarrow Point, and imported holly stock from England to plant on it. By the 1920s, he owned the largest holly farm in the United States.
