Van Gorder,entitled At Toledo Beach, on view in the galleries.An interesting feature of the work in hand is theseries of talks to school children. Groups are ad-dressed informally on some art topic every day in theschool year, a significant step in popular education.

SELF-PORTRAIT, IQOI, GUM IRINT XXIH The Baltimore Experiment A RT IN THE MARKET PLACETHE BALTIMORE EXPERIMENTBY LEILA MECHLIN Reverting to ancient methods, theMunicipal Art Society of Baltimore has been en-deavoring, this winter, to increase an intelligentlove of art on the part of the general public by liter-ally having it preached in the market places. Acourse of popular lectures on art has been deliveredby Mr. John Quincy Adams, of the Art Commissionof New York, under the auspices of the MunicipalArt Society, in the market halls of the city. Thecourse comprised ten lectures, each of which wasgiven three times in as many different places. Thefirst was delivered on November 27 and the lastFebruary 27.
