Description |
English: The description tag reads: "Dwarf seated, Goya Studio, 19th century. Goya is considered as the great artistic heir of Velasquez whom he held in great esteem. This version of the dwarf is somewhat similar to the dwarf seated on the ground by Velasquez. For Goya, the sublime is based on suffering, and it can therefore be felt in a surge of compassion. However, the person himself expresses neither suffering nor any other feeling. He shows himself merely looking at us with simplicity and sincerity."
