In the picture we see a water flea from the genus Simocephalus.

Summary[edit]

Description

Antud pildil on näha vesikirbu haudetaskus püsimuna.

Antud isend on leitud linnatiigist Rakveres.
English: Simocephalus sp. are 3-4 mm in length, round animals that are covered in a bivalve carapace. The head, which contains a single compound eye, is not covered by this carapace but instead is surrounded by a hood. The given picture shows a resting egg in the hatching pocket of a water flea. Permanent eggs are formed in water fleas when living conditions deteriorate, e.g. winter is coming. This specimen was found in a city pond in the city of Rakvere in Estonia
