Summary[edit]

Description On April 8, 2009, the Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District opened the newest 1,200-foot lock chamber at McAlpine Locks and Dam to the navigation industry at Louisville, Ky. More than 10 years in the making, the completion of the new chamber gives the McAlpine project twin 1,200 foot locks for efficient movement of projected increases in tow traffic.
