Early Roman dress accessory: 1st-Century Colchester brooch
Description
English: A fragment from the bow of a copper alloy Colchester brooch. The pin and chord are lost, and the bow is simple and undecorated, with a simple curved profile typical of many examples from England. The bow has the brown patina characteristic of many brooches of this date. It measures 31.9mm long, 8.1mm wide, and the bow is 3.5mm thick. The brooch weighs 3.9g. These one-piece brooches date to the middle and second half of the 1st century AD.
