Title
Early Medieval Hanging bowl mount
Description
English: An Early Medieval copper alloy hanging bowl estuchen, dating to the 6th to early-7th century. The mount is circular in plan a flat in cross section. The upper surface has moulded decoration, now worn and difficult to make out. It appears that the decoration could have been running scrollwork in the fine-line style similar to that seen on the Sutton Hoo hanging bowl escutcheons (<a href="http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details.aspx?assetId=34897&objectId=92591&partId=1">http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/collection_online/collection_object_details.aspx?assetId=34897&objectId=92591&partId=1</a>). The reverse of the mount is undecorated with not sign of how it was attached to the bowl. Similar on database: LIN-89C232

The reverse of the mount is undecorated. The mount is 29.6 mm in diameter, 2.9mm thick and weighs 9.01 grams
