English: The original version of the circular logo and trademark of the General Electric Company. The trademark application was filed on July 24, 1899, and registered on September 18, 1900 to the General Electric Company, of Schenectady, New York, a corporation incorporated in New York. The date of the trademark's first use, given in the original 1900 registration certificate, is the month of May, 1899. The trademark's U.S. trademark registration number is 0035089. This trademark is still registered to the General Electric Company. |

| Source | The link above points to the Trademark Document Retrieval (TDR) page for this trademark. At the bottom of the list on that page you will see two "Registration Certificate" fields. The "Registration Certificate" field at the very bottom is the original 1900 registration certificate for this trademark. Trademark registration certificates at that time had a separate page with the trademark image (exactly like U.S. patents, which used the page for the patent drawings). However, the original drawing sheet for the early G.E. logo is not available for viewing; only the registration certificate page is available. Later U.S. trademark registration certificates had the trademark image on the same page as the rest of the certificate. The other "Registration Certificate" field in that list is actually the 1990 renewal registration certificate for the trademark. This is the only document available that shows the trademark image, so it is where I got this image from. I downloaded the PDF file of the document, used Inkscape to extract the bitmap image of the document embedded in the PDF, and cropped the logo out of the bitmap image and made the background transparent, using IrfanView. |
