Early-Medieval coin : Penny of Offa
Description
English: An Early-Medieval silver penny of Offa of Mercia (757-96); Light Coinage (c.765-92); moneyer: Withnoth [actually Winoth]; mint: London; new variety related to Chick 76. Measures 16.38mm in diameter and weighs 0.99g. The flan is rather jagged.

Obverse: OFFA REX in two lines divided by a beaded bar with fleurs at each end. Various pellets around and within letters.

Reverse: UI/N/O/d (O lozenge-shaped; d=theta) in the angles of a lozenge-cross fleury (single fleurs). In the centre is a lozenge containing four pellets arranged in a cross shape.
