THE EADS BRIDGE -- In crossing the river from the w:Missouri to the w:Illinois shore the w:tornado tore away some 300 feet of superstructure of the w:Eads Bridge. This magnificent structure took five years to complete and cost $10,000,000. It was designed and erected by Capt. J. B. Eads, and is one of the strongest bridges in the world. Some of the stone blocks were hurled several hundred feet, and a wagon which was on the bridge was dashed to pieces with its two occupants.
