MassDOT Highway Administrator Frank DePaola joins the E-ZPass Street Team in Lee as they sign up customers and issue free transponders today. The sign ups come ahead of the October 15 restoration of tolls on the Massachusetts Turnpike between Interchanges 1 – 6. “With the restoration of tolls approaching, we want to make sure as many Turnpike users as possible have access to the convenience of electronic toll collection,” said MassDOT Highway Administrator Frank DePaola. Additional on-site E-ZPass sign-ups will be scheduled in this region in the coming weeks. Customers may also join E-ZPass online at Mass.gov/EZPassMA or by phone, 877-627-7745. MassDOT is also holding two public hearings on the toll restoration next week. The hearings will include a brief presentation and time for comments and questions, and exchange of orange transponders or sign up for the E-ZPass program. The hearings are as follows: Tuesday, September 10, 6pm -9pm, Lee High School, 300 Greylock Street Thursday, September 12, 6pm-9pm, Mass Mutual Center, 1277 Main Street, Springfield If you wish to comment by email: WesternTurnpike@state.ma.us. |

Definition of "public record"
Public records are defined in A Guide to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, Published by William Francis Galvin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Division of Public Records, (Updated January 2017) at https://www.mass.gov/files/2017-06/Public%20Records%20Law.pdf on page 40, under M. G. L. c. 4, § 7(26) as:
Limitations of template usage
This is consistent with the statement at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ARC/arcres/residx.htm:
Note: Works that are considered "public records" but were not created by a state or municipal government agency may be copyrighted by their author; the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution prevents state law from overriding the author's right to copyright protection that is granted by federal law. For example, a state agency may post images online of the final appearance of a building under construction; while the images may be "public records", their creator (eg. architecture/construction firm) retains copyright rights to the image unless the contract with the agency says otherwise. See: Government-in-the-Sunshine Manual: To what extent does federal law preempt state law regarding public inspection of records?. |
