Description Arms of Duff of Braco, Banff, Scotland: Vert, a fess dancettée ermine between a hart's head cabossed in chief and two escallops in base or (Montague-Smith, P.W. (ed.), Debrett's Peerage, Baronetage, Knightage and Companionage, Kelly's Directories Ltd, Kingston-upon-Thames, 1968, p.448, "Duke of Fife"). Arms of w:William Duff, 1st Earl Fife (1697-1763), of Braco, Banff, the eldest surviving son of William Duff, merchant, of Dipple and Braco, by his wife Jean Gordon, a daughter of Sir George Gordon of Edinglassie, Aberdeen, Shire Commissioner in the Parliament of Scotland.
