Summary[edit]

Description
English:
  • Photograph of one of the driving wheels of the William Crooks locomotive.
  • Overview: One of the locomotives driving wheels. Note the counterweights between the top left spokes of the wheel. These allow gravity to assist the wheel through its rotation. The red pipe running down the fender in front of the wheel carries sand. The sand is dumped onto the rail to improve traction during starts.
  • Taken on February 23rd, 2009.
