Português: Dr. Ângelo Augusto da Silva (1896-1987) Ângelo Augusto da Silva (n. São Vicente, 20/11/1896, f. 24/01/1987), pedagogo e professor do ensino secundário. Foi também oficial miliciano de Artilharia do Corpo Expedicionário Português em França, por ocasião da primeira Grande Guerra. Bacharel pela Faculdade de Matemática da Universidade de Coimbra, foi nomeado professor efetivo do Liceu José Estêvão em 1920 (Aveiro). Retornou à Madeira em 1923, para lecionar no Liceu Jaime Moniz, onde veio a ser reitor logo no ano seguinte. Mais tarde, assumiu igualmente a direção da Escola do Magistério Primário do Funchal. Exerceu o cargo de delegado provincial da Mocidade Portuguesa da Madeira, foi vogal da Junta Geral do Distrito Autónomo do Funchal, onde integrou a Comissão Executiva com a pasta da instrução pública. Presidiu a Comissão do Museu Quinta das Cruzes e foi membro do Conselho Diretivo da Sociedade de Concertos da Madeira. Recebeu o grau de comendador da Ordem de Instrução Pública e pela resolução do Governo Regional n.º 913/83, de 20 de outubro de 1983, viu ser atribuído o seu nome à renovada Escola do 3.º ciclo da Levada, que foi inaugurada no ano letivo de 1984/85, então já com ensino secundário (texto do Museu de Fotografia da Madeira, no 142º aniversário do seu nascimento). |
