The protection offered to performers had been put in place ,but the question of protection for the audiences, who were still in the open, had been discussed in council on several occasions. It was not until 1929 that the town council decided to improve the sea wall beyond the bandstand and to build an enclosure on the seaward side of the bandstand for up to 300 people. The estimated cost was £1500.It was completed and opened on 14 July 1929. |
