Summary[edit]

Description
English: Double beam engine, Bolton Steam Museum Twin beam engine from Crossfield Mill, Wardle. The only surviving textile mill example. It was later rebuilt with one new cylinder for higher pressure and subsequently ran as a single. Although there are two cylinders of different sizes it was never run as a compound. The Northern Mill Engine Society's museum has a wide range of steam motive power from the small-medium size range (up to about 250 horsepower) of textile mill engines. The real monsters were up to 3000 hp and one exported to India was 4000 hp.
