Korpral vid Nylands och Tavastehus dragonregemente 1740-08-20. Sergeant därst. s. å. Livdrabant 1741-11-11. Fänrik vid livgardet 1746-09-10. Gick i fransk tjänst 1748. Kapten à la suite vid regementet Royal Suédois. Löjtnant vid förutn. garde 1749-10-24. Kapten vid Cronhjortska regementet 1750-09-19. Överadjutant 1752-09-28. Kavaljer hos kronprinsen, sedermera konung Gustaf III, 1756-02-28. Major vid drottningens livregemente 1757-07-06. Uppsatte 1758 ett husarregemente. Avsked från drottningens livregemente s. å. 7/12. Generallöjtnants n. h. o. v. s. å. 19/12. Envoyé extraordinaire et ministre pléni-potentiaire i Italien 1789-04-07 och i Storbritannien 1793, vilken senare beskickning han dock ej emottog. Avsked från landshövdingämbetet i Halland s. å. 11/1. Död 1795-12-07 i Livorno. 'Han ingav konung Gustaf III idén om regala brännvinsbränningen och fick därför namnet Brännvins-Wrangeln, samt var jämte presidenten Boije och statssekreteraren Liljencrantz ledamot i regala brännvinsbränningsdirektionen från 1775 till 1781. Fick med sin första fru länsgodsen Netzeband, Grünberg och Doversee i Brandenburg, vilka han försålde 1770.' Gift 1:o 1753 med Dorotea Albertina von Barnewitz, död 1763, dotter av kammarjunkaren Christoffer Fredrik von Barnewitz, till Netzeband, och grevinnan N. N. von der Schulenburg. Gift 2:o med friherrinnan Maria Charlotta Cedercreutz, född 1736-12-20. Statsfru hos drottning Sofia Magdalena. Död 1815-05-28 i Stockholm, dotter av kammarherren friherre Lars Fredrik Cedercreutz, och Catharina Siljeström. Henrik Didrik, född 1729-09-28, död s. å. 14/11." [1]
