Description
Français : Vantail de porte - 1126 - Irak ou Iran - Bois sculpté, gravé, traces de décor peint (?) - Achat, 1989 - Département des Arts de l'Islam - Vitrine 19 - Inventaire : MAO 837. Le cartel indique : Ce vantail constituait la partie gauche d’une porte étroite et basse. Le panneau rectangulaire est occupé par deux cercles tangents ornés d’une étoile à cinq branches d’où partent des inscriptions en écriture kufique géométrique. Elles énumèrent à cinq reprises les noms de « Muhammad » et « ‘Ali ». Une prière chiite occupe les parties latérale et supérieure de la porte. Elle provient donc d’un monument d’obédience chiite, probablement un sanctuaire.
