Español: Retrato del politico y escritor español José Echegaray y Eizaguirre (1832-1916), que también fue ingeniero, dramaturgo, político y matemático y hermano del comediógrafo Miguel Echegaray. Además, José Echegaray fue ingeniero de Caminos y economista, y fue ministro de Fomento entre 1869 y 1872 y luuego ministro de Hacienda entre 1872-1873 y 1874, destacando entre sus actuaciones la fundación del Banco Nacional de España. En 1876 se retiró de la política, aunque volvió a ser nombrado ministro de Hacienda en 1905. En 1904 se le concedió el Premio Nobel de Literatura, que compartió con Federico Mistral, y en 1911 el rey Alfonso XIII le concedió el Toisón de Oro.
