Brett Nelson (left), an ophthalmologist from Fort Carson, Colo., (left) examines a Dominican citizen for post-operation, while two Dominican medical intern physicians observe July 25 at the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Dominican physicians, including medical interns and medical residents, worked side by side with U.S. military doctors and ophthalmologists July 10-27 during a medical readiness and training exercise planned by the U.S. Army Medical Command and U.S. Army South. The MEDRETE team of Dominican and U.S. military doctors conducted more than 350 eye surgeries on adults and children. |
