Description
English: United Metal Industries Ltd was one of the largest manufacturers of household utensils appliances in Queensland. It had a factory in Deshon Street, Woolloongabba, adjacent to the railway line between Buranda and Coorparoo. The company was taken over by Malleys Limited in 1960, which later became part of Simpson, and the factory closed in 1983.

STAGE SET FOR FAIR

The curtain will be raised on the 17-day session of the Queensland Industries Fair at noon tomorrow.

Hours of attendance through out will be from midday till 5 p.m., and from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. The Fair, which is being held at the Exhibition Grounds, will be closed on Sundays. Admission charges will be 2/ for adults and 6d. for children.

Season tickets for one man and two women can be purchased for £1/1/.

The opening ceremony will be conducted by the Governor (Sir John Lavarack), patron of the Fair, in the main auditor ium, set in the John Reid Hall, at 3 o'clock tomorrow.
