| Description |
I started the book Discovering the Human Connectome by Olaf Sporns back in December 2012. I set it aside because I wanted to spend some time to increase my knowledge of neuroscience which I have been able to do in the last six months thanks to Coursers and some great teachers at Duke university (Roger Coke Barr and Leonard White) as well as Henry Lester of Caltech, Idan Segev of Hebrew university of Jerusalem; Rajesh Rao and Adrienne Fairhall of University of Washington. Now (July 2013) I have some basis to study this book in some detail. I want to generally understand the role of systems and the network view of the brain. Since I first read Sporn's 2011 book "Networks and the Brain" I sensed that this might be a very good way to understand the brain and the mind but I could only see a faint shadow of his ideas due to my own lack of knowledge. Now I have the benefit of some more knowledge that (hopefully) will enable me to understand more about the idea of the connectome. |
