Summary[edit]
DescriptionDiscarded upper parts of shells used for making bangles - Mohenjo-daro - BM.jpg |
Provenance : Mohenjo-daro. Civilisation harappéenne mature (v. 2600-1900 av. J.-C.).
English: Discarded pieces of shell from Turbinella pyrum, a gastropod whose shell is used in the Harappan civilization to make bracelets for the elite. After breaking the ends and removing the internal spine, the craftsmen sawed the central part of the shell to obtain a circular section from which the bracelet will be made. These pieces are the rejects from this stage, from the top part of the shell. From Mohenjo-daro. Mature Harappan civilization (c. 2600-1900 BC). |
