Summary[edit]

Description A woman complaining to the ruler. Illustration of Rashid-ad-Din's Gami' at-tawarih. Tabriz (?), 1st quarter of 14th century. Water colours on paper. Original size: 11.8 cm x 25.8 cm. Staatsbibliothek Berlin, Orientabteilung, Diez A fol. 70, p. 18 no.2. This illustrates a story about Ghazan Khan. Because Ghazan had officials and military stay in the houses of the general population, an old man told Ghazan a story about a Sultan: near Nishapur, this sultan met a newlywed woman that led a horse to drink. This task had actually been given to her husband by a Turk soldier, who wanted the husband out of the house. The Sultan consequently had separate baracks built for his men. And so did Ghazan.
