108^ Helobiae. — Hydrocharitaceae. Pflanzen, welche oft herdenweise in stehenden Gewässern mit NympJiaccn und anderen Wasserpflanzen vorkommen. Die krautigen Blätter dieser Pflanzen dienen als Gemüse. Ottelia Pers. Wie bei der folgenden Gattung stehen wir erst am Anfang einer genaueren Kenntnis der Arten, da nur wenig Sammler diesen Wasser- pflanzen genügende Beachtung schenken. Die im Monsungebiet verbreitete 0. alismoides (L.) Pers. (Fig. loo) wird in Th. Dyer, Flora von Afrika, von Kordofan und dem Nyassa-See zitiert. 0. lancifolia A. Rieh., eine durch ellip- tisch-lanzettliche Blätter, zweispaltige Spatha und stielrunden Schaft ausgezeichnete
