Deutsch: Doppelseitige Illustration aus der Illustrierten Die Gartenlaube von 1895, Seite 24 und 25. Es handelt sich um eine Nachzeichnung eines Gemäldes von Franz Xaver Simm als Stich oder Schnitt. Das Bild zeigt einen Zahnarzt (Dentist), der eine sitzende Frau hohen Standes mit dem Inhalt eines kleinen Fläschchens zu betäuben sucht. Der Ehemann kniet vor seiner entsetzt auf den Zahnarzt blickenden Frau und hält ihren Arm. Die Gruppe ist von insgesamt vier Familienangehörigen und Angestellten umgeben, der Mutter, einer Schwester und einem Jungen (möglicherweise der Gehilfe des Zahnartzes) im Mittelgrund sowie einem Mann im Hintergrund. Die jüngere Schwester hält sich mit beiden Händen die Ohren zu. Alle Personen blicken routiniert oder sogar freundlich auf die Patientin. Im Vordergrund liegt ein von der Patientin umgestoßener Fußschemel. Ein kleiner Hund bellt den Zahnarzt an. Die Unterschrift des Bildes lautet:
